| | Description | Trappey's is one of the oldest hot sauce brands in the United States. It is produced by the New Iberia, Louisiana-based company Trappeys Fine Foods, Inc. Trappey's is now owned by B&G Foods, a major food conglomerate. The company produces Red Devil Cayenne Pepper Sauce, Louisiana Hot Sauce, Inda-pep Pepper Sauce, Chef Magic Jalapeño Sauce and pickled jalapenos. The company was founded in 1898, when Louisiana entrepreneur (and former McIlhenny Company employee) B.F. Trappey began growing tabasco chilies from Avery Island seed. He founded the company B.F. Trappey and Sons and, with the help of his ten sons and one daughter, began producing his own sauce, which he called "Tabasco." The McIlhenny family, makers of Tabasco brand sauce eventually responded to this challenge and a several decades-long feud by receiving a trademark for their Tabasco brand in 1906. Afterwards Trappey resorted to the more ubiquitous "Louisiana Hot Sauce." Trappeys is a typical Louisiana-style sauce containing vinegar, peppers, and salt. The sauce uses xanthan gum to smooth out its consistency. Trappey's is noticeably milder than most other Louisiana-style sauces. | |

A favorite hot sauce Mar 06, 2011
By sauerkraut For well over a year, I have been using different types of hot sauce on different types of food. Before I started doing this, I only ever remember using hot sauce on barbeque sandwiches. Even though I have tried numerous types of hot sauce during this period, Trappey's Bull Brand Louisiana Original Recipe Hot Sauce has set itself apart from the others and has become a favorite. I like the salty, tangy flavor of this hot sauce. Also, it is not too hot and not too mild. I tried this hot sauce on a barbeque sandwich and thought that it was delicious. This is a hot sauce that I do not mind using on a variety of foods, and it is a good basic staple to always have around. It is a recommendable hot sauce.

I believe all food is merely a vehicle for hot sauce, and in my world Trappey's Bull Hot Sauce is the very best. Thanks, Trappey's.
