1Shockingly Overpriced  Sep 28, 2010 By Sid Hartha "Sid Hartha"
No popover mix is worth the exorbitant cost, including King Arthur's.

I recently spotted the King Arthur popover mix for $6.85 at Cub Foods, which is a supermarket in competition with WalMart in terms of pricing. Weighing 9 oz., the product yields 12 popovers. All the box contains is unbleached flour, nonfat dried milk and salt. The consumer has to assume the cost of the more expensive ingredients--3 large eggs and 1 tbsp. of butter--that must be added to the dry mix.

The secret to successful popovers is not in the ingredients but rather how they are handled.
