Love this candy! Aug 18, 2008

Great spicy ginger flavor! Slightly expensive, but a very tasty treat. Chewy. Recommend it. I was able to find these Original Chimes at a World Market store, but had to go on Amazon to get the peanut butter and peppermint versions of these Chimes. Did not like the peanut butter to well, and disliked the peppermint even more. Try the Original Chimes first.

Nice tin, unimpressive product. May 23, 2009
By Aja De Coudreaux I picked up a tin of the "original" ginger flavor for $2 locally. I like ginger, I like Victoriana, and the tin appealed to me.
Inside were about 16 pieces of candy, all individually wrapped. They were difficult to open/unwrap, stuck to the wrapper terribly, and were messy. Don't even try to eat these while you are driving! The consistency was really chewy, as to be expected, but it stuck all up in my teeth and wasn't too pleasant. The overall flavor was unimpressive and wasn't worth all the effort and expense while I could get a bag of over three times as much ginger candy by "Ting Ting Jahe" for around the same price (depending on where you buy it).
On Amazon, you can get 2 oz of Ting Ting Jahe for $1.49 and 7 oz. for $4.64.
They are individually wrapped in edible rice paper and then a paper wrapper, so they don't stick to the wrapper. They taste better. They have a better consistency and don't gum up your teeth.
I tried Chimes, and in the future I'll be filling their cute tin with Ting Ting Jahe.
I gave two stars instead of one because "Chimes" makes "ginger mint", "ginger peanut butter", "ginger apple", and "ginger orange" chews which I have not tried and have not seen offered by other brands. I hope they are a lot better than the "original"!
