Amazon gives sellers a bad rap! Mar 09, 2010

You should know that many items being sold on Amazon are being sold to you by independent sellers who have very little or NO control over shipping fees, so when you're charged almost $12 for ONE 6oz jar of almonds, when you thought you were purchasing 6 jars for just under $7 with free shipping, it's Amazon who is deceiving you, NOT the seller. In fact when I learned of the rip-off, I immediately wrote Amazon, stating my disappointment and they didn't even take responsibility. All they did was pass this very disappointed buyer (me) off onto the seller to deal with. The seller responded immediately by phone and explained the situation, which is that the sellers have no control over the shipping and he was completely empathetic to my situation and it turns out that this seems to be a regular occurrence. This is not even the worst part. The worst part was when I noticed a $79 charge to my bank account from Amazon and when I called to find out what this charge was for, they told me it was for a subscription to who knows what, which I supposedly agreed to when I chose free shipping. This is bad enough in my opinion, but the kicker is that I was charged almost $7 to ship a 6oz jar of almonds, with the total for the shipping and the almonds being, again, almost $12, when I was suppose to have received free shipping!! Although I will say that Amazon did tell me they were going to remove the $79 charge for a subscription for which I never agreed to, but that remains to be seem and this is as far as they went. They didn't seem to care about the fact that I was charged shipping when the screen clearly stated the shipping was FREE. Not only do not they not care about their sellers, but as far as I can see, that certainly don't care about their customers either. BUYER BEWARE!
